As of this writing CHG 2.0 is still only available to our alpha testing team. When it comes out as public, we will no longer require the use of an app as the app itself will live inside of browser (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.).
At that time, you will only need ETH’s gas if you are choosing to use ETH, or better you can use CHG coin to pay network fees on our own Mainnet wherein CHG provides the gas. So, it depends on what network you want to make your transaction on - CHG or ETH. There will also be interoperability and interfungiblity between, thanks to our proprietary network bridge.
So, when does CHG 2.0 Mainnet release? According to our developer, we are just a few days away. But in full transparency, our lead dev. has been known to place delays at the last minute in pursuit of perfection.

Correct, not many use IE, therefore we designed our in-browser app to support multiple browsers, like Chrome, Brave, Opera, etc.

off-topic, but I assume CHG 3.0 is available in either Active-X or flash plugin?
There is no CHG 3.0, only CHG 2.0, and it is located here - https://hub.chgcoin.org - does it work for you in IE 6.0?
